Signs of Growing Strength- Speaker Dr. Stephen Fuller
The economic recovery is now 11 quarters old but the expansion has been slow and the outlook is for only moderate growth in 2012. This presentation will review the current status of the recovery and the conditions that have muted its acceleration. The pace of the recovery has also slowed in the Washington metro area as federal spending has moderated from its pre-recession trends. How the local economy will perform going forward in the light of potential reductions in federal spending and what sectors will replace the contributions of the federal sector to area's gross regional product will be explored. Also, a forecast for the U.S. and the local economies through 2015 will be presented.

Speaker: Stephen S. Fuller, Ph.D, Dwight Schar Faculty Chair and University Professor, Director, Center for Regional Analysis, School of Public Policy, George Mason University, Arlington, Virginia
Professor Fuller joined the faculty at George Mason University in 1994 as Professor of Public Policy and Regional Development. He served as Director of the Ph.D. Program in Public Policy from July 1998 to June 2000, and from July 2001 to July 2002. He also serves as Director of the Center for Regional Analysis. In September 2001, the GMU Board of Visitors appointed him University Professor and in July 2002 he was named to the Dwight Schar Faculty Chair.
Prior to joining the George Mason University faculty, he served on the faculty at George Washington University for twenty-five years, including nine as Chairman of the Department of Urban Planning and Real Estate Development, and one as Director of Doctoral Programs for the School of Business and Public Management.
Dr. Fuller received a B.A. in Economics from Rutgers University (1962) and his Doctorate in Regional Planning and Economic Development (1969) from Cornell University. He has authored more than 800 articles, papers, and reports in the field of urban and regional economic development, economic and fiscal impact analysis, and housing market analysis.
Professor Fuller served on the Governor’s Advisory Board of Economists under Governors Kaine, Warner, Allen and Wilder. In 2003, he was a member of the Governor Warner’s Tax Reform Working Group. He also is a member of the CFO Advisory Group of the District of Columbia and Montgomery County, MD.
2:00 - 2:50 p.m. Topic: Commercial Card Update - Speaker Neil McHugh
The impact of Commercial Purchasing Card growth on the b2b payments landscape continues to gain significance. This enlightening session will detail the impressive trends, identify key drivers, and examine today’s card payment solutions. Independent research demonstrates increases to aggregate spending and commercial card adoption by an expanding group of market segments. Several growth drivers will be discussed including economic conditions, the growing acceptance of card payments and the increased availability of solution providers. Finally, the presentation will conclude with a thorough review of the types of solutions currently available and their usage within a corporate entity’s commercial payments strategy.

Speaker: Neil D. McHugh, ,Vice President, Commercial Card Sales Manager , TD Bank, Vienna, VA
Neil McHugh, Commercial Card Sales Manager, has been with TD Bank for 10 years. In this position, Neil directs the bank’s Commercial Card sales initiative and is responsible for new client acquisition and overall portfolio growth. He is results oriented and enjoys consulting clients to design, implement and expand custom tailored commercial payment solutions.
Neil’s prior experience includes both Retail and Commercial Banking, with a primary focus on Cash Management and Commercial Payments. During his tenure with TD Bank Cash Management, McHugh has held multiple positions including project manager for large scale/complex client implementations and Cash Management Sales Consultant. In these positions Neil has gained experience with a wide array of market segments including middle market, large corporate, not-for-profit, higher education and, government. In addition, he has contributed to industry journals and is a regular speaker at treasury management and payments conferences. McHugh is a Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) and holds a B.S. in Business Administration with a major in Finance from Villanova University.

Every effort will be made to notify registered participants of the cancellation by email. In the event of advance payments, participants may request funds be applied to the next upcoming meeting provided 48 hours of notification are given.
