This session will discuss the current state of cash management, provide insights on the challenges being faced by treasurers and the impact of pending regulatory reform. In addition, it will address the expanding cash management options, including the Federally Insured Cash Accounts, which were sited as a leading bank deposit vehicle in the 2012 Annual AFP Liquidity Survey. Learning Objectives:

Participants will be able to:

  • Describe the status of the current cash management environment;
  • Define pending regulatory changes for money funds, TAG/Unlimited FDIC insurance;
  • Determine how treasurers are managing cash today and why; and how new cash management vehicles and strategies are being utilized by treasurers.



Speaker: Brandon Semilof, Managing Director - StoneCastle Cash Management, LLC.


Brandon has 18 years of investment experience. Throughout his career, he is credited with helping create and launch innovative and unique cash management solutions that help define the institutional cash market.

Prior to joining StoneCastle, Brandon was with Vanderbilt Avenue Asset Management, where he was head of sales and marketing. At Vanderbilt, he was successful in helping launch the first institutional liquid FDIC-insured cash management vehicle.

Prior to Vanderbilt, Mr. Semilof was a Director at The Reserve, where he was head of Institutional Sales.  Under his leadership there, institutional cash balances grew from $5 billion to over $85 billion.

Brandon has a B.S. in Business Management from

Ithaca College.

2:00 - 2:50 p.m. Topic: The Foreign Exchange Puzzle, Putting the Pieces Together. Speaker: Bryan M. Brown, Senior Vice President & Manager, Wells Fargo Corporate Foreign Exchange

The Foreign Exchange Market is the world's largest financial market. It runs 24 hours a day and only closes for a few hours each week with the average trade volume higher than that of any other market (daily trading volume of $3.2 trillion of FX vs. $251 billion for stocks, exchange traded options and security features).  It is a global network of banks and other official institutions exchanging currencies with the majority of the FX trade done via electronic systems.


Learning Objectives:

Attendees will be able to:

  • Describe an expanded knowledge of the principals of Foreign Exchange; through an overview of the FX market;
  • Determine a greater understanding of FX terminology;
  • Create a plan to mitigate FX risk, by using a variety of FX hedging solutions.

Bryan Brown is a Senior Vice President and has twenty-one years of banking experience with Wells Fargo Bank, NA. As the head of the Corporate Foreign Exchange desk in Charlotte North Carolina, Bryan manages a team of 12 currency specialists and analysts serving the large corporate, middle market, and government/non-profit/higher education market segments. Bryan’s personal book of coverage focuses on the DC/Maryland middle market and Philadelphia large corporate markets. Over his career he has developed significant expertise in helping to mitigate his clients’ currency risk and streamline their foreign currency processing. Bryan received a Bachelor’s degree from Wofford College.
