1:00 - 1:50 p.m.                 Topic: “Cyber Threat – Current and Future Threats to Payments”

The presentation will look at the current state and future state of cyber threats to payments. Review of the current cyber threat landscape; look at how cyber attacks are frequently executed and account takeover in particular.  Present some case studies of information sharing that occurred as a result of the attacks. Finally, highlight some next steps for active defense based on partnerships that have been developed and industry automation efforts. and look at what is next on the cyber threat landscape and some time-tested risk management practices.

Speakers: .. Eric Guerrino, Executive Vice President, Operations, FS-ISAC

Eric Guerrino is Head of Operations for the FS-ISAC. In this position, Eric oversees operations of the Security Operations Center (SOC), serves as a liaison to the SOC for the membership and FS-ISAC management, and works with members to introduce new products and services. He manages vendor relationships for the FS-ISAC, and helps to build new partnerships to provide added value to the membership.


Prior to joining the FS-ISAC, Eric was Managing Director and Senior Advisor to the Head of Operations and Technology Risk Management at BNY Mellon. Previously, Eric was Head of Information Security at the BNY Mellon from 1998 through 2009. He served as the firm’s liaison to multiple industry groups established to examine cyber security challenges and associated activities, and threats to critical infrastructure. He supported the implementation of the information protection program and provided guidance on security policy and administration, incident response, threat and risk assessment, security awareness, and security compliance monitoring. Prior to this role, Eric was manager of various teams for end user computing, database administration, and application design and development.


Eric was a member of the industry team in 1999 that founded the Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center (FS-ISAC). Eric became a director of the FS-ISAC in 2001, and served as chairman from 10/2006 – 12/2008. Eric served as a director of the Internet Security Alliance, and led various industry initiatives supported by the BITS organization to strengthen security practices of technology providers and our industry, notably application security and electronic mail security.


2:00 - 2:50 p.m.  Topic:  The Benefits of FinCEN’s  Customer Due Diligence Requirements for Financial Institutions


Discussion of Financial Institutions’ “Know Your Customer” regulatory requirements including new requirements to identify beneficial owners of legal entities in order to improve detection and prevention of tax evasions, money laundering and the flow of illicit capital worldwide.

·         Learn how the new regulations for Due Diligence requirements for financial institutions affect the battle against criminal and terrorist activities throughout the world.


Speaker:   Tom Cardamone, Managing Director, Global Financial Integrity (GFI)


Tom is the Managing Director of Global Financial Integrity (GFI), a non-profit, nonpartisan research and advocacy organization focused on tax evasion, money laundering and the flow of illicit capital around the globe. In addition to building and leading an outstanding staff, his responsibilities include strategic planning, promoting organizational goals and policy positions to key audiences including high-level government officials and foundation executives, and identifying new revenue streams.


For two decades he has been an analyst, Project Director and Executive Director for, and a consultant to, several non-profit organizations. Prior to joining GFI, Tom was a consultant to non-governmental organizations in the areas of strategic and program planning, development and web site content.  From 2000 to 2003 he was Executive Director of the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation, a leading Washington, D.C.-based arms control organization.


During his career Tom has advocated policy positions on television, radio and in print media including appearances on CNN, Canadian Broadcasting and Swiss Broadcasting and in newspapers including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Washington Post. He has delivered remarks on various policy issues at the James E. Baker, III, Institute for Public Policy at Rice University, at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development in Paris and testified before the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations. He also was a contributing author for the book “War or Health: A Reader.”
